BUILD ONE HOUSE AT A TIME IS UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER
WE SHARE is asking $5,000.00 from donors to build a HOUSE. A house actually costs about $8,000.00 to build but the other $3,000.00 will come from local contributors plus the family itself. The family will most likely will be doing the actual building of the house themselves.
Summary of HOUSE
A house will be built between 400 to 500 square feet depending on the size and need of the family and the decision will be made in discussion between the social service and the family. The social service has various house plans that can be chosen from. It will include 2 small bedrooms, kitchen, hall and toilet. They will also have electricity and most have running water but some have to get water from their well or their neighbors.
"Cents of Land"
In South India land will be measured in cents.
1 acre = 100 cents = 4840 square yards
1 cent = 48.4 square yards
1 square yard = 9 square feet
1 cent = 48.4 * 9 = 435.6 square feet.
One small room will be of 100 square feet (10x10=100square feet)
Because it is difficult for most people to send the entire $5,000.00 to build a house, the Build ONE HOUSE at a time project was started. This works by anyone donating what they can towards this project. The donation goes towards the HOUSE that is presently being worked on. This will become the house of the people who donated towards it. After the completion of the house, a picture and thank you letter will be sent via e-mail. After the completion of each house, a new family will be presented for a house and the goal will be worked on again.
You are encouraged to share this mission with all your friends and relatives along with churches or any other organizations to help build houses for the poor.

Bishop Sebastian recently had a survey taken of how many people are living in huts and sheds and need a good house that will not be destroyed each year by the monsoon season. The number was more than 500 families. This number only reflects those families who already have land for a house to be built on. If a family does not have land, then the added expense of buying the land will have to be added to the cost and many more people are in this situation. It is Bishop Sebastian's desire that his poor people will have a good house.
